To end their stay, Charleston students shared a meal with their host families, afar17 members and Cuffle leaders. Everyone shared their experience in French and tasted a winter French dish : "La raclette" ! This year, AFAR17, the Cufle and foreign students visited a part of the Ile de Ré ! Right next to La Rochelle, this island is the symbol of tourism and natural environment of the Charente-Maritime. Was scheduled for the program a feet in the water picnic ! Visit of the Hermione with Lafayette!
During this outing to Rochefort, the students saw the arsenal and board the French warship of the famous Marquis de La Fayette. A nice leap in the history of France! During this day of integration, students visited a major monument of the Charente-Maritime : the Abbey of Maillezais. Also made a boat trip along a canal. During this day, students discovered the edge of the Poitevin marsh and did a boat trip. We call this marsh "the Green Venice" ... This time, the students were able to discover the superb panoramas of the castle of "La Roche-Courbon". For the schedule : tour of the castle and its French gardens and friendly picnic. To celebrate the 2012 stay, students, AFAR17 leaders and teachers shared a friendly meal to share their experiences.
